FORGOTTEN WOODS “As The Wolves Gather” & “Sjel Av Natten”

franz — Tue, 14 Nov 2017 03:01:19 +0000

I’m glad to have shaped the layout for the only official re-release of Forgotten Woods’ “As The Wolves Gather” and “Sjel Av Natten”. These two essential contributions to the history of Norwegian black metal, both recorded in 1994, will finally be released in the edition they deserve: a digipak CD with 24-page booklet, including unreleased photos and an early-days retrospective with notes by Rune Vedda.

This version by ATMF, is the edition authorized by the band; this is why all the fans should support them by ordering this luxury format here: https://atmfsssdtp.bandcamp.com/album/as-the-wolves-gather-sjel-av-natten

KOMMANDANT “All Paths to God”

This is the cover for the Kommandant‘s side of the 7″ split with Animus Mortis, released by Behold Barbarity. “All Paths to God” is focused on a holy man chosen by God to be immortal. This “blessing” becomes a curse and the man rebels against the Creator by killing himself.
I symbolically translated the concept of the lyrics into the image of an arm emerging from the sea, symbol of the underworld, and holding a laurel wreath representing victory.

FALAISE “As Time Goes By”

For the reissue on the ATMF of their debut album “As Time Goes By”, the blackgaze band Falaise asked me to reinterpret the visual concept of the album artwork. For the cover design, I tried to convey a feeling of solitude and introspection by emphasizing the contrast between the individual, alone in the distance, against a backdrop of wide open spaces.
